'Paul & the Dragon' wins Divercine!

Last week Paul & the Dragon won the price for 'Best Animated Film' in Montevideo, Uruguay, at the the 18th International Uruguayan Film Festival for Children and Teen-agers, DIVERCINE. The film also got a Special Mention on the festival. Excellent!
This is what the jury had to say about it:
"Por el excelente guión que, sin diálogos, logra transmitir lúdicamente la visión y las emociones de un niño ante el diagnóstico de cáncer en su cuerpo. Logra encontrar humor donde habitualmente sólo hay drama y logra encontrar vida donde se cree que solo hay muerte"
Roughly translated by Google:
"Its excellent script, without any dialogue, manages to convey the vision and playful emotions of a child before the diagnosis of cancer in his body. It finds humor where there is usually only tragedy and finds life where it is believed that there is only death"

Interview Digital Movie Magazine

A couple of weeks ago we got interviewed by Digital Movie Magazine. Here's the result with a whoppin' four pages interview (in dutch) full of 'Paul and the Dragon' goodness:

'Floyd'...falling soon!

This week we got the most excellent news that the National Film Fund has granted us financial support for the pre-production of our new animated shortfilm
'Fallin' Floyd'.
This means after wrapping up 'Little Quentin' this summer, we can start the pre-production of two new film projects: a short and a feature film. Excellent.

The End is Nigh

As we are slowly approaching the final scenes, here are a couple of stills from our upcoming new animated short film noir 'Little Quentin'.

Paul travels to South America

Even more festival news: Paul and the Dragon will be playing at the 18th International Uruguayan Film Festival for Children and Teen-agers, DIVERCINE 2009, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, between the 29th June and the 12th July 2009.
'Paul y el dragón' will be playing there on Saturday the 4th and Friday the 10th of July in the Sala Zitarrosa theatre. After Divercine, the film will be playing at different festivals in South America.
Below you can see the shiny Hermína Týrlová Award, we won at the Zlin festival in Czech Republic. It's sorta looks like a magic crystal ball, except you can't predict the future with it, but when you place it in the bowl, you can spin it around and it keeps spinning for a real long time, which is awesome.

In other news, the film got selected for the Anima Mundi Festival 2009 in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo, Brazil! Excellent!

Stuttgart Animation festival

Here's a small impression of the 16th Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film.
We had a couple of very successful screenings of 'Paul & the Dragon', had too many bratwurst and got into a couple of nasty fights with some Dreamworks characters:

P&D reviews, interviews, fanart and...oh my!

First off, a big thanks to the crew of Animated Views. They put up a review of our film Paul & The Dragon, plus they interviewed us on the making of the film.
Click *here* for the interview and *here* for the excellent review.

Then, here are two more (Dutch) reviews in two magazines, BSM magazine and Nederlands dagblad:

Last month, in connection with the International Childhood Cancer Day, the kids of primary school Johan Friso held a fundraiser for the The Dutch Childhood Cancer Parent Organisation (VOKK). Those crazy kids raised 1170,93 euros! And in class they also made these wonderful Paul & the Dragon drawings and paintings. Sweet! Check out all the other art pieces by clicking --->HERE.
