Paultje in 3D
A couple of weeks ago we visited sculptor Frans van Straaten in his studio.
He'd saved three of the larger Paultje sculptures (made for the The Quality of Life Gala) for us and we picked them up :

Hey, we recently launched a new Paul & the Dragon website.
You can check out the trailer, wallpapers and lots of other info about the film by clicking here:
It even has a freaking guestbook and everything. Some parts are still under construction so watch out where you click.
English version coming soon. A special thanks to HoYin Man and Pepijn Blom for their amazing mad programming skills.

2.1 million!
Last weekend all the rich and famous gathered at
the Quality of Life Gala to raise money for child cancer research. The theme of the evening was our film 'Paul and the Dragon'. For the auction 50 famous Dutch people painted a statue of our Paul character, a nice bronze statue of Paul was auctioned, some jewelry of the characters and lots of other stuff. Paul himself and his family were also there and in the end 2.1 million was raised to support child cancer research, which is amazing.

Sounds good.
Clean-up and backgroundart are finished! The brilliant soundtrack by Maarten Spruijt is finished!
And earlier this week we finished recording soundeffects for the film at Bob Kommer Studios.
It was a lot of fun and we'd like to thank Ronald & Jeroen for their professional work, good stories and lots of laughs.

Exciting Update
So we got good news and we got bad news.
The good news is: we are still alive after finishing the rough version of the entire film. The bad news is we still have to do a shitload of clean-up, coloring, compositing and background painting. And we do not know if we will survive this.
One of us will probably lose an arm, but that's the sacrifice one has to make in creating an animated film.
This will most likely be the coverart:

Welcome to the third dimension
Last week talented sculptor Frans van Straaten paid us a visit and showed us the model of Paul he's working on.
Check out the beautiful sculpture from all angles below:
FUN HOBBY-TIP OF THE WEEK: If you have nothing to do in the weekends, print the image above 100 times, put them next to each other and run past it. You've created your very own 360 turnaround animation of Paultje, because Albert was toolazy busy to do it for you. Thanks to Monsieur Daan Faudet for the photos!

Then a short clip as a main course. With some tasty music by musical maestro Maarten Spruijt:
If that hasn't fulfilled your appetite, here's a strawberry-topped dessert:

Whoa. Check out this crazy SUPERcollage of screenshots. Click it. They may be tiny, but that's also what makes them cute. Clicky:
BONUS UPDATE: Background image from one of the fast Michael Bay like action scenes from the film. In fact, it goes by so fast, that you'll miss all the actual detail from the painting, as it flies by in less than a nano-second. But thanks to Blogger you can now enjoy it. So let's thank Blogger for making our lives richer.
