Today's Valentine's day. And exactly 5 years ago on this day our studio was born into existence out of love; our love for animation. Thanks to everyone we worked with the past 5 years! Here's to the next 5! Cheers! Proost! Skol!

Sinterklaas is coming to town

Yesterday we received the great news that the Netherlands Film Fund has granted us & our producers at il Luster films financial support for our first animated featurefilm 'Trippel Trappel'.
This means a lot not only for us as a studio, but it's a great deal for the Dutch animation industry as well. We want to thank the Film Fund and everyone who has been involved in some way in developing the film to this point:
Michiel, Arnoud & Chris from il Luster of course.
Ronald and Jeroen from Bob Kommer sound studios.
And of course all the collegues and interns who contributed to the project so far. A big digital round of applause for:
David de Rooij, Jelle Brunt, Junaid Chundrigar, Davor Bujakovic, Ben Vinkenburg, Justin Wallace and Wouter Tulp.

Anikey @ Ochtendspits

We were interviewed by the morning news show 'Ochtendspits' about animation in Holland. Our item starts at 6:00 minutes into the broadcast, after the bit about the 96 year old prostitute. Click the image to watch the video:

I read the news today oh boy

Today in newspaper 'Trouw' an article about animated features in Holland, including a couple of pre-production drawings from 'Trippel Trappel', the featurefilm we're working on. Find a digital version of the article here.

Make A Wish Foundation

A couple of weeks ago we were asked by the Dutch Make A Wish Foundation, a non profit organization established to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to help fulfill the wish of a young man; Mats van Balen. Mats is a big fan of Johnny Depp and Pirates of the Caribbean. So we wrote a little story for a short pirate film Mats could star in. Then we teamed up with animation studio Mirage 3D to film Mats against a green screen as the famous Captain Jack Sparrow Mats! Later in the studio we put Mats in different scenes. Mats even helped animating some of the characters and scenes!

Demoreel 2010

Falling for Floyd

We just got the fantastic news that the National Film Fund has granted us financial support for our third animated short film ' Fallin' Floyd'!

Paul & the Dragon goes international

'Paul and the Dragon' goes to Denmark! Yes, 'Lille Poul og Dragen', as the film will be called in Danish, will be distributed in Denmark by the Børnecancerfonden.
Next up is Croatia. We're very happy the film is slowly starting to have an international audience. And look, it also makes animators Davor & Junaid very happy:

Anikey turned 3! Yay. We had cake.

I heard the news today, oh boy...

Well actually yesterday. RTL news came to take a look in our studio for a small item about the Holland Animation Festival and Dutch animation.

We are the children...

While this picture may look like we recorded a Christmas single to raise money for a good cause this Monday, we actually had a lot of fun recording some temporary scratch voice acting at Bob Kommer for the feature film we're currently setting up.

Yesterday we wrapped up the final audio mix for Little Quentin at Bob Kommer Studios. Now it's ready to go on film! Couple of weeks ago we already did a little test at Cineco, it looked great and so we got our very first filmroll! Bonus: the final final poster of the film:

Anima Mundi award

The beautiful Anima Mundi award from Rio de Janeiro! The character even walks when you pull the small lever on the globe. Obrigado, Brasil!

Paul travels to South America

Even more festival news: Paul and the Dragon will be playing at the 18th International Uruguayan Film Festival for Children and Teen-agers, DIVERCINE 2009, held in Montevideo, Uruguay, between the 29th June and the 12th July 2009.
'Paul y el dragón' will be playing there on Saturday the 4th and Friday the 10th of July in the Sala Zitarrosa theatre. After Divercine, the film will be playing at different festivals in South America.
Below you can see the shiny Hermína Týrlová Award, we won at the Zlin festival in Czech Republic. It's sorta looks like a magic crystal ball, except you can't predict the future with it, but when you place it in the bowl, you can spin it around and it keeps spinning for a real long time, which is awesome.
